Sakky’s Journey in EAFC, Global Esports Mentorship and Esports Scholarships

“It’s been a while since I’ve done something like this. It almost feels like my competitive days,” Saksham Rattan opens. From a civil engineering background in India, he pursued his love for esports by competing internationally, then made it his full-time profession. Now eight years in, he brings that experience to students through Esportian, where he mentors rising talent worldwide.

Sakky explains how in India, having a backup plan like engineering is deeply ingrained. But after winning a FIFA event in Malaysia, he took a leap. Supported by his father and older brother, he spent a transformative year chasing his gaming dream.

“I didn’t feel like working a single day of my life in the past eight years,” he says. Though the journey wasn’t easy, most people back home didn’t understand esports at the time Sakky credits his small support circle and unwavering passion.

He went on to represent India during the FIFAe World Cups in Saudi Arabia in 2023 and 2024, competing at the highest level. Being officially recognized by FIFA as a “Legend of Indian Football Esports” followed affirming Sakky’s impact both on and off the field.

After eight years of competing, coaching, streaming, and running events in India including branded activations with Red Bull, Sakky decided to continue his esports evolution through formal education. He moved to Barcelona and completed a Master’s in Esports & Gaming Business at ISDE under Max Dalmau 🔜 Gamescom .

“The shift wasn’t simple,” he admits. “It’s hard to accept that you may not compete full-time anymore.” But with the esports infrastructure exploding worldwide, especially in the Middle East and North America he realized the potential in guiding students toward college esports pathways. At Esportian he now supports kids to earn scholarships, join top-tier programs, and shape their futures with both esports and academics.

In his role, Sakky mentors student-players holistically:

  • Sharing training discipline, lifestyle habits, and mental preparation.
  • Encouraging content creation and social presence to stand out.
  • Emphasizing grassroots opportunity, especially for underrepresented regions like South Asia.

Using his background in engineering and esports business to help students balance ambition and education.

He reflects on challenges and setbacks through years of losing, tough negotiations, and near burnout before finally securing world cup slots in his seventh year. “I almost quit in year six,” he admits. But he stayed focused on continuous small improvements and leaned into community support.

His core advice? “Always have a backup plan. An education gives you resilience, even if esports doesn't last forever.”

Sakky’s story is powerful: following passions, staying grounded with education, and giving back through mentorship. At Esportian, he now turns his eight‑year journey into a roadmap for the next generation of esports leaders.
